We were a party of four from the U.K. making our first trip to the White Mountains and looking for the best way to see all the area has to offer. We could have hired a car and driven around, taking in the beautiful scenery, but we didn't know the area so thought a guided tour was the way to go. After making enquiries from back in the U.K. we were told about Mountain Wanderings, so we got in touch with Rex and made the arrangements.
On the morning of the tour we were promptly collected from our B&B by Rex in his roomy pick-up truck and, after introductions and handshakes, asked if there was anything we particularly wanted to see. Knowing nothing of the area, we left the itinerary to Rex. It was a wise decision as Rex knows the place like the back of his hand and his extensive knowledge of the mountains, with their wildlife, buildings, covered bridges, etc., and his informative chat and funny anecdotes (like the time he found a young black bear trying to get in through his kitchen window) made for a fantastic day out - one that I'll never forget and the highlight of our week-long stay in New England.
I don't know when we'll get a chance to return to New Hampshire, but it's a place we'd love to visit again and if we do we'll be certain to contact Rex - perhaps we'll go looking for moose and bears next time.
I highly recommend anybody looking for a guided tour of the White Mountains to visit the Mountain Wanderings website and get in touch with Rex - you won't be disappointed.

"It was nice to meet you. I really enjoyed our tour, thank you."

Just came back from a full day with Rex wandering through familiar and new places in the White Mountains. The wealth of information, the amusing stories, the family history and the natural landscape all came alive as we drove along. We stopped for pictures, to stretch our legs and for a yummy lunch, but the rest of the time the scenery rolled by as we tried to take it all in. Of course, Rex is a true outdoorsman and would be fabulous to hike or hunt with, but we were there for a trip down memory lane and he made the trip just perfect!
